Ingredients:
All-purpose flour 4 cups
White sugar 4 tablespoo
Salt 1/2 teaspoo
Margarine, softened 1/2 cup
Egg 1
Baking soda 1 teaspoon
Butter, melted 1/4 cup
Baking powder 1 tablespoo
Buttermilk 1 1/4 cup
Olive oil 1 tablespoo
Directions:
1. Set oven to 375 degrees F and let preheat, then take a large baking sheet and grease
with oil.
2. Place flour in a bowl, add salt, sugar, margarine, baking powder, and soda and stir
until combined.
3. Crack the egg in another bowl, whisk in 1 cup buttermilk, then gradually add this
mixture into the flour mixture and stir until incorporated and batter comes together.
4. Transfer dough to clean working space dusted with dough, then knead for 5 minutes
or until smooth and shape the dough in a round ball.
5. Place dough onto the prepared baking sheet, whisk together melted butter and
remaining buttermilk, then brush the mixture on the loaf and make an ‘X’ mark on
top of the loaf. Bake until the top is golden brown and inserted skewer into the bread
comes out clean (about 50 minutes). Brushing with buttermilk mixture every 15
minutes.
6. When done, take out bread from the pan, let it cool for 10 minutes and then slice to
serve.
